Now I'm getting the chance to read books I didn't have time for before. Think of me whenever you see the slogan "So many books, so little time!" Now I've got the time. Cheers, Fred.
The Art of Happiness (A Handbook for Living)
- Book Type:

the Dalai Lama was interviewed by Howard C. Cutler, a psychologist at the University of Arizona who interviewed and has written about their numerous discussions. “The Art of Happiness” is a “how-to” book based on the worldview and spiritual values of the Dalai Lama. (For his books I've read, click on his name.)
This is not a book about his Buddhist theology. Instead it is about the worldview and spiritual values that he gained during his remarkable life – both in Tibet (until he had to escape the Chinese invasion of Tibet) and afterward (when he learned so much about the rest of the world and their faith traditions). My review here cannot attempt to discuss separate sections because this book has a “holistic” nature that does not make separation easy or worthwhile. But I must say that his healing insights on how to cope with one's troubles are especially great because of my situation when I first read this book. I found it to be so important to me at that time that I have read many parts of it more than twice. I also read and discussed special parts to my wife Doris to help us both cope with the drastic lifestyle change caused by the neurological disability that has left me wheelchair bound for the rest of my life. His words helped us cope with this very difficult change - to dwell on what we can still do and never to think about or bemoan what we can no longer do. I give this book my very highest recommendation.
